The stimulation of paper pulp industry

In recent year, there are three major ways in the world to deal with the pollution that caused by wasted packaging stuffs: 1, avoid packaging, 2, recycle the packaging, 3, using decomposable material to the the packaging dissolved natrually without making any damage to the environment (also called 3R1D protocol). In some countries like U.S., Canada, Japan and E.U had established strict laws against disposal of wasted packaging material, material such as EPS can in no ways be used in packaging or retailing. Paper pulp material should be used instead.

Now in China, when some oversea investment placed the order, statement are strictly made that the package material should be environmental friendly. After China joint WTO, this rule should also be obeyed not only to increase self image but also follow the world trend.

For all reason above, the world start focusing on one packaging material that can be both old and new: paper pulp packaging.

China’s paper pulp molding industry

The main equipment for egg tray pulp molding production includes hydraulic pulper, pulp pools, shaper, dryer and hot presser and edge cutter.

The shaper is the most critical part of the production, there are several kinds of shapers for the pulp molding, one is called rotating pressing shaper, mainly used in apple trays, egg trays, egg box and bottle tray production, which require only a shallow product depth. Another is called pulp injection shaper, mainly used in the production of tableware which are simple in shape and light in weight. Casting shaper is for the production of stuff which requires high tension and strength; Before, the reciprocating shaper is the main shaper type, which occupies 95% of China’s paper pulp molding industry. It’s low in efficiency, high in consumption. The rotating shaper was introduced in China in 1990s and developed rapidly with great advantages.

So far, most of the paper pulp molding equipment adopts advanced pneumatic controller with PLC interface, to produce various kinds of stuffs. Some can produce multi-types of products by the same molder unit.

For decades effort, there is great achievement in China’s pulp molding industry while defects still exixt, mainly in:

  1. The mold manufacturing is poor in skill, low in efficiency and high in cost.
  2. Most of the shaper is Reciprocating type, almost 95%.
  3. Some critical component in the production line should be imported.
  4. No standard has been established in this industry.
